World Tennis Day 2021

World Tennis Day was 69 days, ie 2 months and 10 days ago.

In 2021 World Tennis Day was on March 1st (monday).

World Tennis Day is a relatively young holiday. The first edition was organized by the International Tennis Federation on March 4th 2013. At that time almost 60 countries took part in the event. Currently, the festival is celebrated in over 90 countries around the world.

World Tennis Day aims to popularize this sport and attract as many children as possible to the courts. On this day, selected schools in many countries carry out special tennis animations for children. As part of the school's activities, students can learn the basics of playing tennis and, in the form of fun, learn the first steps on the court. All students are also provided with gifts for participation in this event.

On the first Monday of March tennis „visits” not only schools. Many courts, clubs and centers open their doors to all those who want to play tennis – not only children, but also adults, organizing, among others, show matches (e.g. on this occasion, tennis fans in London had the opportunity to watch Pat Cash's one-hundredth clash with Ivan Lindl, in which the Australian won 8:6). This is a great opportunity to encourage as many people as possible to play tennis.

A holiday related to World Tennis Day is Tennis Night in America. During this event, supported by USTA, workshops, trainings, exhibitions and shows are organized. All related initiatives take place during the night hours. In 2012, more than 2200 clubs from all over the United States took part in this event.
